VG-lista

We started the “VG-lista” hit parade in 1958. Today the list consists of the Top 20 Singles list and the Top 40 Albums list. The VG lists have become Norway’s official hit parades.

VG’s lists are based on weekly sales figures from approximately 150 music stockists (record shops, kiosks and petrol stations) throughout Norway. Norway’s official hit parades are prepared by the Norwegian record wholesalers’ association on behalf of VG. The VG lists are published in the newspaper every Thursday, along with other material of musical interest.

The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), broadcasts the lists on radio and TV every week.

The VG Top 20 list
NRK Channel 1 on Fridays at 4.30 p.m., repeated on Channel 2 on Saturdays at 3.50 p.m.
NRK Channel mPetre on Tuesdays at 4.00 p.m.
NRK Channel Petre on Tuesdays at 2.02 p.m.

The VG Top 40 list
NRK Channel P1 on Tuesdays at 8.03 p.m., repeated on Saturdays at 7.07 p.m.

In the summer, VG and NRK organise VG Top 20 concerts all over Norway.
The biggest outdoor concerts in Norway, they offer spectacular shows with both Norwegian and foreign artists, and are broadcast live on NRK radio and TV.
